I have been teaching online for 3 semesters now, and as wonderful as it is, I still have not been able to duplicate the depth of connection to my students that I feel in my f2f classes. Online is a wonderful opportunity for education, a way to make things possible that were never available before. What is missing, at least in my scenario, is the personal chemistry that comes from performing in front of a class. I can do the welcome week, the community building, the personal emails, the IMs, but it seems like a piece of the puzzle is still missing. Is it possible to replicate the personal connection through a digital connection?
