The more time I spend here, the more I want to be able to become a part of the community. I want to meet people, to fit into the local culture, to have the folks at the corner market and feed store know who I am. I want to find my niche in this small town where I can be a contribution in some way. Right now I am in limbo, unable to fully take part in anything on either side of the fence I am sitting on. I think that’s part of the underlying melancholy I feel. I want to be a part of something larger than myself. I want to help my children learn about the value of giving back more than you receive. I know. Soon. Until then, I’ll do what I can, when I can, and in the best way that I can.
